My eyes wander down to the country road I'm walking on.

I can tell it had been tarred and graveled not too long ago.

There apparently hasn't been a lot of traffic to press all of the tiny stones into the tar yet, which would have given the road a "paved" look and feel.

Instead, I feel the rolling movement of gravel pieces beneath my feet with each step.

They make a click-crunching sound as I walk over them.

Every once in awhile, one of my steps inadvertently sends a little stone bouncing and skipping on ahead of me.

I think of the absolute contentment I feel strolling down this peaceful country road... and how easy it is to notice and appreciate even the simple things on such a beautiful day like today.

I smile....
